About Dr. Zoë A. Lewis:
Active in both physician and community education on issues of end-of-life care and general medicine, she has regularly presented medical grand rounds in New England, South Florida, and nationally for hospice and end-of-life care conferences. She has numerous publications to her credit and belongs to numerous national and international medical and hospice and palliative care organizations. She is the producer and host of the internet radioshow - 'Hospice Radio' on blogtalkradio, a public service venture with no commercial bias.
Dr. Lewis works as an internist, hospice physician and is actively promoting her recent book, "I hope they know….The Essential Handbook of Alzheimer’s Disease and Care." The Spanish translation, "La Guía Holística para la Enfermedad de Alzheimer," will be available in 2009. She is also working on a book for Alzheimer Disease Prevention, a short guide about nutrition with recipes and activity suggestions with the message, "Keep Your Wits! Seasoning For Reasoning."
Dr. Lewis is very excited about becoming the producer and host of an internet radio broadcast, on blogtalkradio, with a listener base of millions worldwide. Her program 'Hospice Radio', is a one-hour interview based, monthly broadcast on end-of-life care issues seeking an international english-speaking audience. Her guests will be international experts on topics that are often clouded in mystery and confusion.Topics are those that she feels will educate listeners of any age or health surrounding serious life-threatening illness. The program's focus is to deliver compassionate information, advise and support to listeners.
Education:
Zoë A. Lewis, M.D., FACP, DAAHPM, holds a BA with departmental honors in Biology from Temple University, Philadelphia and a Medical Doctorate summa cum laude from the University Of Rome School of Medicine, ‘La Sapienza’, Italy. Her graduate medical thesis research on melanoma was published in Oncology, 1993 (50).
Her internship and residency training were completed at the University of Pennsylvania Healthcare System, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a diplomat of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, (DAAHPM) and was elected as Fellow in the American College of Physicians, (FACP). She has held academic clinical internal medicine teaching positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Tufts University and Harvard School of Medicine.

Dr. Lewis is the former Corporate Medical Director for Beacon Hospice, Inc. in New England. She received specific acknowledgement for her leadership efforts by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in their 2006 guide, Caring for Persons with Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias, Guidelines for Hospice Providers and is sited on page 8.
She is also the former Assistant Medical Director for the Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice also of Boston, and a former hospice team medical director for Vitas Healthcare in Broward County, Florida. Dr. Lewis led the initiative to implement the first hospital-based physician palliative care consultation service for St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of the Caritas Christi Healthcare System in Boston.
She has provided primary care and internal medicine services at Brigham and Women’s Physician Group and for patients in the Caritas Christi Healthcare System, both of Boston, MA and in the greater Miami area at various hospitals.
